This genuine log cabin in the hills of western North Carolina is sitting on over three and a half acres of gently sloping land. A three bed/two bath cabin, it also features water frontage - and it's only $344,900!
More DetailsWith a border along Cherry Creek, this cabin survived the recent storm with ease. The worst storm in over 100 years took a few trees, but neither the trees nor the rising waters posed any problem for this sturdy, high & dry log cabin!
The cabin was built in 2007 from 6"x8" D-style white pine logs that feature a double tongue & groove where they stack together, keeping out drafts and weather, and a new roof was installed in 2022. The long, covered porch and large deck support your outdoor activities, while the tree-lined curve in the gravel driveway enhances your privacy in this gated community location. Featuring deep mountain drinking water, the well pump was also replaced in 2022.
While the large deck, the fire pit, ample room for recreation and the water frontage are all wonderful, this log cabin really shines inside. The three bed/two bath home begins in the great room, with a rock-faced fireplace (it uses a no-maintenance electric insert). With its granite countertops, the kitchen features a matching rock-faced island, and the theme continues around the stove alcove. Also in the great room, you'll find stairs and a loft - great for kids (or extra storage) with a mostly finished cubby that has it's own lighting.
In the hall is a laundry closet, and a bit further down you'll find the hall bath as well as three bedrooms with vaulted ceilings. The main bedroom is generous in size and the en suite is home to a double vanity, a triangular jetted soaking tub, and glass enclosed shower.
Floors are hardwood throughout, with tile used in the kitchen and baths. All appliances (refrig, w/d, etc) convey. The home is in good shape - it's been lightly used, with both the first and second owners only using this log cabin as a vacation home.
(Sorry, no photos of the creek. Cherry Creek feeds a man-made 24-acre pond on neighboring land, and has not been a well-defined body of water for some twenty-ish years, due to previous beaver activity!)
Being located in the foothills offers easy, practical living; this cabin is just a fifteen-minute drive into town! Five and a half miles north of the county seat of Rutherfordton, Hearthstone Ridge is quiet, and with low dues of only $435/yr, the gated community offers both security and peace of mind. Convenience, ease of access, clean air & water are waiting for you!
